Runtime
This production is approx. 55 minutes in duration without an interval.
Suitable venues
This production is suitable for intimate audiences of up to 120. It is performed with the audience seated in a ¾ round with seating on three of the four sides in one or two rows of seats, or a horseshoe shape. Ideal venues would be a large studio style theatre, hall, studio or a large theatre with seating placed on the stage with the performer. Seating must be at the same level as the performer.
Performance History
Asking For It began with an online performance and was invited to be part of a feedback workshop with Chloé Déchery and Marion Boudier (Performer Les Savoirs/Performing Knowledge) through Readymade Works. It had its first performance in July 2026 through Merrigong Theatre Company’s Merrigong X program.
Design Details
The performance space is bare with a props table in the upstage left corner. There are two microphones placed at the edges of the performance space (exact positioning to be determined within each space).
Technical Details
Audio playback, live microphones and simple lighting rig to be provided by venue.
Lighting
Asking For It requires a simple lighting rig and has a maximum of ten cues depending on venue’s rig.
Venue Crew
The venue would need to provide a minimum of 1 crew person to operate sound and lighting. Bump in is minimal and can be done within an hour or less.
